FANSITE U2 Argentina has posted a Sound Cloud link of The Best Thing, a collaboration between Bono and Kygo, played live recently at the Cloud Nine Festival.

Social media users were quick to share YouTube clips of the song, but the links were quickly shut down due to copyright laws.

Snippets of the track first surfaced some days ago when it was given a good thrashing at Bono’s holiday house in the French coastal town of Eze. A beachgoer managed to record two video clips which quickly went viral before they also were deleted.

The clips were up long enough for many to fall in love with song, and for others to voice their fears that this will be the new direction for the band which is due to release it’s next album Songs of Experience soon.

The song is quite a departure from recent social media posts released by the band, one from the studio and another by Fender (listen from the 4min 43sec mark).

These had a darker, richly colourful feel about them, with The Edge’s guitar front and centre.

The Kygo track is cemented in a dance groove, Bono’s voice very much a floating, dreamy anchor of its melody.

What we have here no one can really be quite sure about. Will The Best Thing appear on the new album? Is it simply a collaboration that is Kygo’s to own?

All we can do is speculate until we hear something official.

I have tried to decypher the lyrics of The Best Thing, and here’s what I’ve made out so far. A song about Ali? The band? The kids?
